Three Darfurian SLM factions unite in Addis Ababa

ADDIS ABABA (21 August) – Three factions of the Sudan Liberation movement have united. This news was announced yesterday, Thursday 20 August in Addis Ababa where the factions were talking about unification. The three SLM factions who unite with one program and one unified vision according to SLM manifesto are: SLM-United, SLM-Abel Shafi and the field leadership commanders who broke away from Abdel Wahid Al Nur. The unification is sponsored by the United States. The adviser of the US envoy team, Gamar Al Din announced the arrival of The United Resistance Front (URF), which is headed by Bahr Abu Garda and also the arrival of the Khamis Abaker faction. Gamar Al Din told Radio Dabanga from Addis Ababa that Abel Wahid Al Nur refused to attend the meetings in Addis Ababa. In related developments, Gamar Al Din told Radio Dabanga that General Scott Gration, the US envoy to Sudan had arrived in Addis Ababa yesterday to attend the unification meetings of the Sudan Liberation Movement factions.
